The estate of Brooke Astor, New York socialite-philanthropist-animal-lover, will auction off many of her possessions at Sotheby’s, Sept 24-25. Astor collected everything from Louis XVI French furniture to Chinese ceramics and bronzes, and held a special fondness for 19th-century dog portraiture. Portrait of a Spanish Pup (shown) attributed to Eugene Lambert 1825-1900 is one of our favorites.
Sotheby’s first-ever comics auction is on view in Paris, the sale begins July 4. View the eCatalogue here.
Shown: Tintin and Snowy by Hergé (Georges Rémi) ink on paper, 1940 (top); ink on paper, 1945 (bottom).
